I’m Over “Basic” Sandals—Here Are the 5 Trends I’m Into Instead

Share

Over the years, I’ve collected my fair share of closet basics and think I really have the staples covered. That includes my shoe wardrobe, which mainly revolves around sandals during the summer months. My closet includes everything from easy flats and practical flip-flops for the beach to simple strappy heels and slingbacks that I rely on to wear with so many outfits. Now that I’ve covered the basics, though, I’m ready to turn up the volume and add in some cool, directional sandals.

Yep, that includes some of the pieces that are having a major moment right now as well as the trends I’m predicting we’ll be seeing plenty more of as we head into fall. From pointy-toe heels to saturated shades to reinvented platforms, the cool sandals on the market are leaving me inspired to add some newness to my outfits. Ahead are the best sandals (and five biggest trends) to add to your shopping cart right now.

Bold, saturated shades are primed to take over on the fashion scene, but why wait? I predict we’ll be seeing high-impact colors like bright green, hot pink, and orangey red.

Zara Tie Strap Heeled Sandals

Platform sandals got a makeover for 2022, and we’re seeing styles finished with everything from toe rings and ankle straps to strappy designs. These shoes are definitely the sandals to own this season.

The pointy-heel trend is officially in full force, but I think it’s just getting started. These shoes lend a sharp sophistication to anything they’re paired with.

It was only a matter of time before heeled thongs made their resurgence, and right now is the moment. With brands including The Row and Prada on board, you can bet these will be sticking around for a long time.

Yeezy put these foam slides on the map, and they’ve since become a major cult item among the fashion set.
